About Our School

 
The Woods School for Irish Dance Peggy Woods Doherty established The Woods School of Irish Dance, in South Boston, Massachusetts, in 1989 with her sister Roseann Woods McKenna. In 1993 Peggy became a certified member of the North America Irish Dance Teachers Association, New England Irish Dance Teachers Association and An Comisiun Le Rince Gaelica, allowing her students to compete regionally and internationally. In 2004, Roseann became certified as well. In 2007 Peggy also became a certified adjudicator. The Woods School has a very friendly and supportive atmosphere and offers students the opportunity to participate both individually and as part of a team. We want children to dance for the love of dance, to smile and to have fun. 
Irish Dancing is a great sport. It builds strength, coordination and confidence. Every student at the Woods School decides what he/she wants from Irish dancing whether it is a highly competitive sport or an activity that promotes physical fitness and friendship. It is up to each individual dancer. • The Woods school opened two more studios in Charlestown and Hingham. • The Woods School has produced many regional and, national winners as well as World qualifiers. • Students from the Woods School have performed at many civic and cultural events throughout Boston and surrounding areas. • Classes are offered to children ages 3 and up. • We also offer adult classes! We, as teachers, want to share our knowledge and love of Irish dance with our parents and students and encourage them to work hard and have fun. http://livepage.apple.com/

“Peggy” lives in South Boston with her husband Shaun and their two kids, Delia and Sean.  Peggy has been teaching in the South Boston area for over 20 years.  

Roseann Woods McKenna, TCRG

“Rose” lives in South Boston with her husband Stephen and her three kids, Stephen, Brendan and MaryRose.  Rose teaches in Charlestown and Hingham.
